A Keppra tablet is used for:

Treating partial-onset, myoclonic, or generalized tonic-clonic seizures in patients with epilepsy. It is used in combination with other medicines. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Keppra tablets are an anticonvulsant. Exactly how it works is not known, but it may work by slowing abnormal nerve impulses in the brain.

Levetiracetam is utilized to help control certain sorts of seizures in the medication of epilepsy. This pharmaceutical can’t cure epilepsy and will just work to control seizures as long as you keep on uing it.

Before using these tablets:

Some medical conditions may interact with Keppra tablets. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with these tablets. However, no specific interactions with Keppra tablets are known at this time. Ask your health care provider if Keppra tablets may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

Dosage:

Use as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

These tablets come with an extra patient information sheet called a Medication Guide. Read it carefully. Read it again each time you get Keppra tablets refilled.

Take it by mouth with or without food.

Swallow these tablets whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing.

These tablets works best if it is taken at the same time(s) each day.

Continue to take these tablets even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.

If you miss a dose of it, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Keppra tablets.

Possible side effects:

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome: Decreased appetite; dizziness; drowsiness; irritability; runny or stuffy nose; sore throat; tiredness; weakness.
