Gardening Tips: Organization Is Key

Gardening tips in the area of organization have been something that I really needed in my location. I have a very large property for a single amateur gardener. I have five working gardens and one of my largest challenges with maintaining them is having the tools I need at each garden. This is a problem that results in a lot of wasted time, and the only solution is organization.

In my vegetable garden I need a hoe, hand fork, pitchfork, a spade, a metal rake, the watering can with a sprinkler attachment and a wheelbarrow on most days. The berry patch usually wants the hoe and the watering can without the sprinkler. My flower garden often wants the hand fork, but my herb garden vies for the hand fork as well, and, of course, the watering can with the sprinkler. I truly cannot afford to buy 2 to 5 of every tool I need for every garden so looking for gardening tips on organization was the solution for me! I cannot tell you how many times I have had to buy a new sprinkler attachment for my conventional one-gallon watering cans. Here are the gardening tips I came up with! My first helping hand with organization came from my Ucan. It solves two problems immediately, one was the 2 gallon capacity and easy carry design requiring less trips but most importantly was it had a sprinkler post build right into the watering can for storage of the sprinkler head when not in use! Now the sprinkler head is at all times with the can even when not in use which means I never misplace it somewhere else on the property! Awesome! This one gardening tips saved me loads of time not having to cross the yard so much and a nice pile of money not having to buy new sprinkler\’s. Regarding my other tool challenges, one of the best gardening tips comes from my husband who got me a garden tool tote for the smaller tools. It manages my hand spade and fork, some seeds and a water bottle for me. Of course, the tote also becomes a storage device keeping the tools together and preventing damage when not in use. Some garden tool totes come with their own set of tools which can make for a very convenient gift to help your favorite gardener get organized, but I usually have very precise tastes when it comes to tools, and I find the provided tool sets to be lacking in good handles or decent rust resistant material. So far, I\’m at a loss for gardening tips regarding the larger tools and they present a continuing challenge in my gardening activities. What I\’ve accomplished so far is to simply have a well organized storage system but that doesn\’t help me with the problem of having what I need in the different gardens and I still spend a great deal of time carrying them from garden to garden. Of course, the wheelbarrow is the first string solution but I haven\’t found one that doesn\’t result in difficulty having the tools fallout or needing to stop and readjust when bouncing over rough terrain. In my dreams there are tool stations at all of my gardens each having exactly the correct tools needed but as I said, that\’s not economically realistic for me. I will come up with a great idea someday, and when I do, I will share it with all my fellow gardeners!
